Will my health insurance cover therapy?

Most insurance plans cover MSW's for mental health services, but please confirm, as well as the amount available to you.

Can I talk to you before booking the first session to see if we are a good fit?

Yes! I offer a 15 minute video or phone consultation for any future clients. To book your FREE 15 minute consultation, please get in touch through the Contact page.

How do I pay?

I can direct bill NIHB, Blue Cross, CAF and VAC but for all other insurance plans, you will have to pay upfront and submit your receipt for reimbursement. You can use e-transfer (preferred as there are no fees!), credit card, cash or cheque.

Will my learning style be respected?

To get the most out of counselling, folks are encouraged to notice, experiment and practice with the things learned in session. Some people love keeping a record of experiences, some like to use apps, some people want to know the science behind stuff and will want to read as much as they can about what they're going through. Some people prefer to be more intuitive and flexible about how to use the insights gained in therapy and still others need community support to practice. 

Your learning style is not assumed, Together we will make a plan for in between sessions that is meaningful and doable for you.

How long will the process take?

The amount of time in therapy is deeply personal and depends on your needs, goals and resources available. Psychotherapy is meant to be empowering and part of your overall wellness journey. Weekly, biweekly and monthly sessions are most commonly requested. Building the therapeutic alliance (relationship between therapist and client) is one of the most important predictors for success.

How do I schedule an appointment?

You can schedule a FREE 15 minute consultation call by sending a note through the Contact form.
If you decide to become a client, you will have access to the online schedule through the Jane portal where you can book in, reschedule, or cancel at your convenience. Alternatively, I'm always happy to do the booking for you.
